Software tool reviews FAQs

How do you determine which software reviews you share?

As a growth marketer having worked across multiple business verticals (eCommerce, SaaS, B2B and DTC) and industries for years, I've had a lot of experience across a range of categories and tools. My goal is to share some of my top recommendations, explain why I like them, the top features they have, getting the most out of them, and why you should consider using, or at the very least testing them, to support with your growth operations, marketing initiatives, as well as your growth strategy.

Are your software reviews genuine?

Absolutely. Transparency and honesty is one of my core values as a person. I certainly don't like to state anything that I don't believe in. Naturally, there are some tools and software programs that I have a lot more experience in, and use often, over others I've played around with or have had minimal experience with. However, everything I suggest in these guides does come from me doing my own detailed research, and I personally share them as options that I would be using for my own projects and clients. I won't be sharing anything that I wouldn't ever use.

What's your typical marketing stack for SaaS and B2B?

Software application adoption is very different for early-stage startups compared to established businesses. Very different growth-stage problems. For me personally, these platforms I find to be consistent across, regardless of the growth stage of the company, with a lot of the clients I work with or have worked for. Asana or Clickup for project management, Slack for communications, 1Password for login credentials management, Notion and Google Drive for document management, Figma for wire framing and designs, Zoom for video comms, Zapier for integrations/workflows, and Loom for quick video instructions. Aside from that, other platforms choices across email marketing, CRM, development, (etc) is normally bespoke and comes down to the individual companies themselves.

Which tools and apps do you use often for eCommerce?

Compared to SaaS, tools and apps I use for eCommerce is normally pretty consistent with stores and brands I advise. I always recommend Shopify as the CMS, with then tools such as Gather for referral programs, Okendo for review (and UGC) generation, Slack for quick messages and notifications, and Klaviyo for email marketing.

For other key categories, I use many of the above I've mentioned, as well bespoke use cases. I'm excited to be sharing more ecommerce-focused software apps and my honest reviews.

If you could only pick 3 marketing tools or apps that you can't live without, what would they be?

It's a tough question which I've often been asked. I have to say Webflow (CMS and landing pages), Notion (Business and life project management), and Slack (comms) are my favourites I can't live without. There are many others I use often and can't live without, but these would be my top 3.
